Job Description

Organovo is seeking a Research Associate II who will perform duties related to cell and tissue culture, bioprinting, and analysis per established protocols. The primary focus will be fabrication of bioprinted tissues, execution of internal studies to meet project deadlines, and timely completion of customer studies contributing to final report generation.

Research Associate II Responsibilities:

  • Under direction of senior staff, executes a battery of assay technologies to evaluate effects of modulators on bioprinted tissue constructs, including ELISA, qPCR, viability and histology per established protocols / SOPs
  • Executing processes related to the generation of 3D tissues and the operation of the 3D bioprinter and other complex equipment in a clean room environment
  • Executes on established protocols, using independent judgment to respond to variations in conditions as needed
  • Participates in new assay development, including independent optimization / troubleshooting of experimental steps and results
  • Accurate and reliable record keeping including records management, notebooks, and all pertinent documentation
  • May contribute new methods for experimental analysis
  • Primary cell culture and maintenance of bioprinted tissues
  • Prepares detailed SOPs that enable transfer of techniques
  • Reporting of results to supervisor and internally at group meetings
  • Other Duties as assigned
  • Works a flexible schedule to meet demands of team (some weekend work required)
  • Other duties as assigned

 Research Associate II Skills & Experience:

  • BA/BS in Biology, Physiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Microbiology, or closely related field
  • 2-3 yrs research experience in an industrial laboratory setting
  • Previous experience with mammalian tissue culture, aseptic processing, reagent preparation, operation of advanced lab equipment, ELISA, GDP, ELISA, QPCR, Enzymatic assays, and Histology imaging required
  • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with GDP
  • Flexibility to work some weekends
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure to complete customer contracts
  • Able to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary groups in a fast-paced work environment, and can also work well independently on established protocols / SOPs following training
  • Detail and task oriented
